I used to hire these international individuals directly, without the use of an agency, like Camp Canada. Staying on top of the Canadian Government updates and changes to foreign worker policies is not an easy task. Not being able to build a relationship with Government and Border officials is also problematic if there ever was a problem, upon entering Canada. Many Camp Directors know that when counsellor staff are arriving at Camp, there is so much going on such as finalising staff training schedules, staff settling into accommodations, and simply meeting and greeting staff as they arrive – and when a call comes in when there is a problem at the border – this can derail your day.
